An Official Slush Side Event for Life Sciences

YScience is an annual event bringing together scientists and the business world through a stage program of speeches, panel discussions and pitching competitions across Health & Pharma, Food Systems, Sustainable Materials and the Science to Business Runway sessions. We're delighted that this year, both of our co-leads took to the stage to pitch our technology in the Science to Business Runway.
Why a dual pitch?
Our technology is underpinned by over a decade's worth of research in two distinct areas, brought together by both of our co-leads. 'MITO' from one and 'ER' from the other. "Without this synergy, we wouldn't be where we are and we really wanted to reflect our unique story and approach on stage," says Dr Brendan Battersby, co-lead and expert in the MITO node of our technology. "Our co-ordinated dual pitch, whilst unusual, stood out and worked well, especially when we shared with the audience why the two of us were on stage with 'united we make 'MITO-GUARD-ER'. That definitely brought some positive energy and connection which is what we were looking for."
"It was also important for us to accurately reflect the diversity of our team, which is majority female," says Dr Sarah O'Keefe, co-lead specialising in the ER node of our technology. "The tech and innovation ecosystem are overwhelmingly male, as seen in our pitching session, so it was a privilege being representative for female leaders, scientists and entrepreneurs. Offstage, our whole team did a great job networking and it was a fantastic space for us to deliver our first pitch on this big of a scale."
Outlook
On behalf of Our Team, a huge thank you to the YScience organisers and our fellow Science to Business Runway pitchers. We had a great time performing our first large audience pitch and chatting with new and old friends. We also attended the main Slush event, where seeing the Slush 100 pitching competition top 20 semi-finalists pitch was a definite highlight. We're counting down for next year already!
